What is a Wiki Cafe? |
![]() Six Saturday Mornings 7th Jan to 11th Feb 2010 10:30 am to 12 noon The ‘Wiki Café’ idea came from the need for a quick response to the Boxing Day Tsunami Appeal in 2004 (in Hawaiian wiki means 'quick'). Since then we have annually donated the proceeds of the cafes to various humanitarian charities. It’s a great opportunity to get out after Christmas, go for a healthy walk, a cycle ride or run, or just meet up and have a ‘cuppa’ and a chat. All Welcome. Previous charities we have supported: Water For People helps people in developing countries improve quality of life by supporting the development of locally sustainable drinking water resources, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education programs. Around the world, 884 million people do not have access to safe drinking water and 2.6 billion are without adequate sanitation facilities.
